How do I apply?

Fill out the application form (to be announced) and link a profile showing your previous work. The first 100 approved applicants get in (it may be up to 102 based on team distribution).

Anyone between 13 and 21 years old can join, as long as you have some visible past experience or practice with whatever you will be doing (games, art, or music)!

PGMA is elimination-style, consisting of 4 rounds within the season! Each round, about half the contestants are eliminated until one winner remains!

How long do I get to make my game?

Each round lasts 2-4 weeks, depending on the stage. This means it's very important not to overscope (we're not expecting the next Hollow Knight).

All graphics must be pixel art. Other styles (like high-res bitmap art, voxels, or raster art) aren't allowed, though small elements may be exceptions.

Where do I have to make my game?

Your games can be made with whatever program you want! But they must be shared on Scratch, itch.io, Newgrounds, or GameJolt (web playable with HTML). They must be directly playable through either of those websites.

Nope. The contest is completely free (forever)!

How does voting work?

The public will be able to vote on your games to support you during rounds 1 and 2, on top of separate rankings by the judges! Rounds 3 and 4 will be all up to the judges!

Are there prizes?

Currently, we're not offering a monetary prize, but winners get recognition and future roles:
1st place: Guest judge for up to 2 seasons.
2nd place: Guest judge for 1 season.
3rd place: Eligible to join next season.
